About Bukit Panjang Neighbourhood

Bukit Panjang, located in the West Region of Singapore, is a residential town situated on an elongated hill. It is bordered by Bukit Batok to the west, Choa Chu Kang to the northwest, Sungei Kadut to the north, the Central Water Catchment to the east, and Bukit Timah to the south. The neighbourhood comprises seven subzones: Jelebu, Bangkit, Fajar, Saujana, Senja, Dairy Farm (where The Botany at Dairy Farm is), and Nature Reserve. The name “Bukit Panjang” translates to “long hill” in Malay, with roads in the town named after old kampung tracks from the 1960s. The town features a mix of old and new residential blocks, condominiums, and private housing. It is served by three community centers: Bukit Panjang Community Club, Zhenghua Community Centre, and Senja-Cashew Community Club. Initially planned to be named Zhenghua, redevelopment of Bukit Panjang began in 1981, with HDB flats constructed by 1985 and subsequent neighborhoods completed in phases up to 1995.
